Society of the Little Daughters of St. John Gualbert (LDSJG)
Abbot Joseph Sambarnadi and Mother Immaculate Kossuth founded the community on July 19, 1975, in the name of St. John Gualbert, who founded the Vallambrosan Order in the Vallambrosan mountains of Italy at the beginning of the second millennium. They adopted the Rule of Saint Benedict as a symbol of the ideal of living and dying for the world, emphasizing prayer and action. On September 8, 1981, with the blessings of Mar Kuriakose Kunnassery, the then head of Kottayam Archdiocese, the first home in India was started at Memmuri in Kerala. In the social context of that time, many elderly parents were abandoned by their families. The community was established to provide comfort and care for these individuals.
Nursing homes for the elderly have been established in India and Italy. The Sisters have also been engaged in ministries such as education, charity, and reformation, depending on the needs of the times. Located in Livorno, Italy and Kothanallur, India. The Sisters have also been serving in the Punjab Mission for almost two years.
