Thuvanisa
Thoovanisa Prayer House, the Retreat Centre of the Archeparchy of Kottayam, coordinates various spiritual and renewal activities for Knanaya Catholic Community and Catholic Church in Kerala. It is the first Diocesan retreat centre in Kerala. Thoovanisa prayer House was started in 1982. The idea originated in the mind of His Excellency Bishop Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry.
The Syriac word “THuVANiSA” means “Bhagyavathy” (the blessed or fortunate one) in Malayalam. This proclamation is made by St. Elizabeth to address St. Mary (LK. 1:45). This retreat Centre is the first diocesan retreat centre in Kerala. At the beginning it functioned as a prayer house for the religious sisters and retreat centre for priests. Later, Thuvanisa extended her services to the areas of Christeen retreat, Jesus Youth programs, family retreats, parish renewal retreats, training programmes, counseling services, intercession etc. Thuvanisa team includes priests, sisters and lay leaders.

- Night vigil prayer on every Friday for each parish with the parish representatives
- Intercession and Eucharistic adoration on everyday from 10am to 2pm- (Special intentions are received)
- One day convention on every Wednesday
- Prayer group gathering on every Friday
- Jesus Youth gathering on every second Sunday

Facilities
Thuvanisa has 16 rooms where 32 persons can be accommodated. Moreover the dormitory has the capacity of 28 beds. Thuvanisa is proud of its traditional oriental chapel which consists of various liturgical symbols and signs.
This year Thuvanisa wishes to build a new block, consisting of 60 bed rooms, which can accommodate more than 120 people.
Retreats
Every month there is a one week residential retreat for the lay people. Every Saturday and Sunday we offer counseling service and retreat for the teenagers and the Catechism students from various parishes make use of this service. Every second Sunday Jesus Youth group prayer is conducted. Every Tuesday and Friday there is night vigil which ends with midnight Qurbana. Every day from 10am to 1pm, there is intercessory prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. From the year 2001, Thuvanisa Conducts annual convention for four days. This is being developed as an Archdiocesan Bible Convention.
