The preparations for the canonization of Bl. Chavara Kuriakose Elias and Bl. Euphresia are going on in Rome. The new saints from India will be canonized on 23rd November 2014. In connection with the canonization the Catholic Church of India under the leadership of Syro Malabar Community in Rome conducts three day programmes in Rome.

On 22nd November (Saturday) 2014, on the eve of the canonization there will be a  vigil service at 4 pm at Maria Maggiore Basilica which will be presided over by Cardinal Amato. Major Archbishop Mar George Card. Alencherry and Card. Cleemis Bava and other bishops will attend the vigil service.

On 23rd November Holy Father Pope Francis will name Chavara Kuriakose and Euphresia saints at St Peter’s Square at 10 am during the Holy Qurbana.

Thanks giving Holy Qurbana will be conducted at St. Peter’s Basilica on 24th November (Monday) in which Card. Mar Alencherry will be the main celebrant.
