L. L. M. Hospital, Kindangoor

LITTLE LOURDES MISSION HOSPITAL was established by Late Rt. Rev. Mgr. Cyriac Mattathil, a worthy son of Kidangoor village. The saintly soul was inspired by the holistic health care of the world – famous Grotto of Lourdes inFrance. He started a 12- bed hospital on the bank of river Meenachil, at Kidangoor naming it Little Lourdes Mission Hospital in 1956. He entrusted this institution, to the Visitation congregation, stipulating special consideration to the poor and the downtrodden.

With unconditional support, enlightened vision and general supervision of Visitation Congregation, the Hospital has grown from a 12-bed hospital to 200-bed strength multispecialty hospital along with two educational programmers viz. Multipurpose Health Workers Training Course and General Nursing and Midwifery Course. Indian nursing council has given sanction to start B. Sc nursing course from the academic year 2013-14. Now it cares more than 52600 outpatients and about 20750 inpatients every year. About 20 departments function round-the-clock in the hospital. Highly qualified and well experienced, senior doctors and energetic and enthusiastic junior doctors work as a team to ensure the best health care service in the hospital. The Nursing service here excels with the services of religious sister-nurses, motivated by Christian charity and dedication, experienced and angelic staff nurses and student nurses. Committed and skilled paramedical services and other hard working auxiliary services do make the hospital one of the best in central Kerala.

The Departments in the hospital include Gynaecology headed by Dr. Sr. Mary Marcellus SVM, General Medicine headed by Dr. Sr. Deepa SVM, Pediatrics headed by Dr. Sr. Latha SVM, Orthopedics headed by Dr. Jijo Jose etc. Highly qualified Doctors serve in our other departments like Surgery, Cardiology, Neurology, Opthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry, Dentistry, Dermatology, Radiology, Anesthesiology and Physiotherapy.
