LITTLE DAUGHTERS OF ST. JOHN GUALBERT

History

The LDSJG congregation was started on 9th July 1975 in Montenero,Italy. This congregation is called the little daughters ofst. John Gualbert. This is founded and shaped by Abbot Joseph Zambernardi, Vallombrosian Benedictine and Mother Immaculate Kossuth. This congregation is growing and branching out into different places. It took root in the Indian soil in 1980, at Kothanalloor in Kottayam Kerala, by the mercy of God and with the authority and permission of Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry, Bishop of the Arch Diocese of Kottayam.

Charism

They are following the Rule of St. Benedict and the charism of St. John Gualbert Forgiving love. Their Motto is” ora et Labora “i.e. pray and work. Their main charism is to care the elderly persons and assist Bishops and priests, health care activity and social work. The activities of the sisters include; teaching, serving retreat houses ,home for the aged nursing, hostel facilities for poor students, serving in parishes and houses visit etc. The eparchy of Kottayam gave all possible co-operations to the congregation from 1981. Now the congregations have a novitiate house in memmury, postulants and aspirants house in Kothanalloor and Arayangad respectively in this eparchy. They have 80 sisters from this eparchy, of whom 30 sisters are working in this eparchy, the rest are in Italy. We have two novices and four Aspirants.
