പിന്നീട് വിശുദ്ധ ഉര്സുലായുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തില് പെണ്കുട്ടികള്ക്കായി ഒരു സന്യാസിനീ സഭ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. അതായിരുന്നു ഉര്സുലിന് സഭയുടെ തുടക്കം. വിശുദ്ധ ആന്ജെലാ മെരീസി മരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവൾക്കു എഴുപത് വയസ്സായിരുന്നു പ്രായം. വിശുദ്ധയുടെ മരണശേഷം മൃതശരീരം അഴുകാതെ മുപ്പത് ദിവസത്തോളം ഇരുന്നുവെന്നു പണ്ഡിതർ പറയുന്നു.
Saint Angela Merici was born in 1474 in the Diocese of Verona. From the early years of her life, she grew deeply in devotion to God and consecrated herself as a bride of Christ. After the death of her parents, she decided to live entirely for God in silence and solitude.
However, her uncle compelled her to take responsibility for family affairs. Saint Angela, on the other hand, renounced her ancestral property and joined the Third Order of Saint Francis, choosing the life she truly desired. In 1524, during a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, she temporarily lost her eyesight. Many years later, while visiting Pope Clement VII in Rome, the Pope requested her to remain in Rome.
Later, under the patronage of Saint Ursula, she founded a religious congregation for girls. This marked the beginning of the Ursuline Order. At the time of her death, Saint Angela Merici was seventy years old. Scholars state that after her death, her body remained incorrupt for thirty days.
