കോണ്ഡാറ്റിലെ വിശുദ്ധ റൊമാനൂസ് അഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടില് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു വിശുദ്ധനായിരുന്നു. തന്റെ മുപ്പത്തിയഞ്ചാമത്തെ വയസ്സില് കോണ്ഡാറ്റില് സന്യാസജീവിതം നയിക്കുവാന് വിശുദ്ധന് തീരുമാനിച്ചു. വിശുദ്ധന്റെ ഇളയ സഹോദരനായിരുന്ന ലൂപിസിനൂസും വിശുദ്ധനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു. ഏറെ വൈകാതെ വിശുദ്ധ ഇയൂജെന്ഡൂസ് ഉള്പ്പെടെയുള്ളവരുടെ ഒരു സന്യാസസമൂഹത്തിന്റെ നായകരായി മാറി ഈ വിശുദ്ധര്. 444-ല് ആള്സിലെ വിശുദ്ധ ഹിലാരിയില് നിന്നുമാണ് വിശുദ്ധ റൊമാനൂസ് പൗരോഹിത്യ പട്ടം സ്വീകരിച്ചത്.
വിശുദ്ധ ലൂപിസിനൊപ്പം അദ്ദേഹം നിരവധി ആശ്രമങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും തന്റെ മരണം വരെ ഇവയുടെ ചുമതല നിര്വഹിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. വളരെയേറെ പണ്ഡിതന്മാര് സഹോദരന്മാരായ ഈ വിശുദ്ധരെ തങ്ങളുടെ ഗുരുക്കന്മാരായി സീകരിച്ചു. ഇവര് നിരവധി ആശ്രമങ്ങള് സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ലാ-ബാമെയിലാണ് വിശുദ്ധ റോമാനൂസിനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഫെബ്രുവരി 28-നാണ് ഈ വിശുദ്ധന്റെ തിരുനാള്.
Saint Romanus of Condat was a saint who lived in the fifth century. At the age of thirty-five, he decided to lead a monastic life at Condat. His younger brother, Lupicinus, followed him in this vocation. Before long, these saints became the leaders of a monastic community, which included Saint Eugendus and others. In the year 444, Saint Romanus received priestly ordination from Saint Hilary of Arles.
Together with Saint Lupicinus, he founded several monasteries and remained responsible for them until his death. Many great scholars accepted these saintly brothers as their spiritual guides. They established numerous monasteries. Saint Romanus was buried at La-Baume. His feast day is celebrated on February 28.
