മഹാനായ വിശുദ്ധ ഗ്രിഗറിക്ക് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെപിതാവും പിന്നീട് കത്തോലിക്കാ പുരോഹിതനുമായ ഗോര്ഡിയാന്റെ സഹോദരിമാരായ മൂന്ന് അമ്മായിമാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കഠിനവൃതത്തോട് കൂടിയ സന്യാസ സമാനമായ മത-ജീവിതമായിരുന്നു ഇവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ഭവനത്തില് നയിച്ചു വന്നിരുന്നത്. ടര്സില്ലാ, എമിലിയാനാ, ഗോര്ഡിയാന എന്നായിരുന്നു ഇവരുടെ പേരുകള്. ഇവരില് ടര്സില്ലയും, എമിലിയാനയും തീക്ഷ്ണമായ ഭക്തിയിലും, കാരുണ്യത്തിലും രക്തബന്ധത്തിനും മേലെയുള്ള ഐക്യത്തിലായിരുന്നു.
അവര് റോമിലെ ക്ലിവസ് സ്കോറി മാര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ള തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ഭവനത്തില് ഒരു ആശ്രമത്തിലെന്നപോലെ ജീവിച്ചു. ഒരാള് മറ്റൊരാളെ നന്മയിലും കാരുണ്യത്തിലും വളരുവാന് പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുകയും മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്ക് മാതൃകയാകും വിധമുള്ള ജീവിതം വഴി ആത്മീയ ജീവിതം നയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഗോര്ഡിയാന അവരോടൊപ്പം ചേര്ന്നുവെങ്കിലും നിശബ്ദ-ജീവിതം സഹിക്കുവാന് കഴിയാതെ മറ്റൊരു ദൈവവിളി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. അവള് അവളുടെ സൂക്ഷിപ്പുകാരനെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു. ടര്സില്ലയും, എമിലിയാനയും അവര് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ഭക്തിമാര്ഗ്ഗം തന്നെ പിന്തുടരുകയും, തങ്ങളുടെ വിശുദ്ധിയുടെ പ്രതിഫലം ലഭിക്കുന്നത് വരെ, ദൈവീക സമാധാനവും, ശാന്തിയും അനുഭവിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ജീവിച്ചു.
വിശുദ്ധ ഗ്രിഗറി പറയുന്നതനുസരിച്ച് വിശുദ്ധ ടര്സില്ലയെ അവളുടെ മുത്തച്ഛനും മാര്പാപ്പായുമായിരുന്ന വിശുദ്ധ ഫെലിക്സ്-II (III) ഒരു ദര്ശനത്തില് സന്ദര്ശിക്കുകയും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് അവള്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുള്ള സ്ഥലം കാണിച്ചു കൊടുത്തു കൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു “വരൂ! ഞാന് നിന്നെ പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് സ്വീകരിക്കാം.” ഉടന് തന്നെ അവള് രോഗബാധിതയായി കിടപ്പിലായി. അവളെ കാണുവാന് അവള്ക്ക് ചുറ്റും തടിച്ചുകൂടിയവരോട് അവള് വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു “മാറി നില്ക്കൂ! മാറി നില്ക്കൂ! എന്റെ രക്ഷകനായ ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നുണ്ട്.” ഈ വാക്കുകള്ക്ക് ശേഷം ക്രിസ്തുമസിന്റെ തലേദിവസം രാത്രിയില് അവള് തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൈകളില് സമര്പ്പിച്ചു.
നിരന്തരമായ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന മൂലം അവളുടെ കൈ മുട്ടുകളിലേയും, കാല്മുട്ടുകളിലേയും തൊലി ഒട്ടകത്തിന്റെ മുതുകുപോലെ പരുക്കന് ആയി തീര്ന്നിരുന്നു. കുറച്ച് ദിവസങ്ങള്ക്ക് ശേഷം അവള് എമിലിയാനാക്ക് പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുകയും വെളിപാട് തിരുന്നാള് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് ആഘോഷിക്കുവാന് ക്ഷണിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാല് എമിലിയാന ജനുവരി 5-നാണ് മരിച്ചത്. രണ്ടുപേരും അവരുടെ മരണ ദിവസം നാമകരണം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. റോമന് രക്തസാക്ഷി സൂചികയില് ഡിസംബര് 24 ആണ് വിശുദ്ധയുടെ നാമഹേതുതിരുനാള്.
Tarsilla, Emiliana, and Gordiana. Among them, Tarsilla and Emiliana lived in intense devotion, charity, and a unity that rose above mere blood relationship.
They lived in their father’s house on the Clivus Scauri in Rome as though it were a monastery. Each encouraged the other to grow in goodness and charity, and they led a spiritual life that served as an example to others. Gordiana initially joined them, but being unable to endure the silent and austere life, she sought another vocation. She married her guardian. Tarsilla and Emiliana, however, faithfully followed the path of devotion they had chosen and lived in divine peace and serenity until they received the reward of their holiness.
According to Saint Gregory, Saint Tarsilla was visited in a vision by her grandfather, Saint Felix II (III), who had been Pope. He showed her the place prepared for her in heaven and said:
“Come! I will receive you into the dwelling of light.”
Immediately afterward, she fell ill and was confined to bed. When people gathered around her to see her, she cried out to them:
“Stand aside! Stand aside! My Savior Christ is coming.”
After these words, on the night before Christmas, she surrendered her soul into the hands of God.
Because of constant prayer, the skin on her knees and elbows had become rough like the hide of a camel. A few days later, she appeared to Emiliana and invited her to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany in heaven. However, Emiliana died on January 5. Both were commemorated on the days of their death. In the Roman Martyrology, December 24 is recorded as the feast day of the saint.
