ജെറുസലേമില്‍ യഹൂദ മാതാപിതാക്കന്മാരില്‍ നിന്നാണ് ആഞ്ചെലൂസ് ഭൂജാതനായത്. തന്റെ ബാല്യത്തില്‍ തന്നെ ആഞ്ചെലൂസ് ഏകാന്തയോട് താത്പര്യം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചിരിന്നു. അതിനാല്‍ ആഞ്ചെലൂസ് കാര്‍മല്‍ മലയില്‍ താമസിച്ചിരിന്ന സന്യാസികളുടെ ഗണത്തില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്നു. അന്ന് പ്രിയോരായിരിന്ന വി.ബ്രോക്കാര്‍ഡ് കര്‍മ്മലീത്താ സഭ സ്ഥാപിച്ചുവെന്ന് പറയാം. ജെറുസലേമിലെ പേട്രിയര്‍ക്ക് വി.ആള്‍ബെര്‍ട്ട് പുതിയസഭയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ട നിയമം എഴുതിയുണ്ടാക്കി. 1203 ല്‍ പുതിയ സഭ രൂപം കൊണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ ആഞ്ചെലൂസ് ആ സഭയില്‍ അംഗമായി.
പുതിയ നിയമസംഹിതയ്ക്ക് അംഗീകാരം വാങ്ങിക്കാന്‍ നിയുക്തനായത് പ്രയോര്‍ ആഞ്ചെലൂസാണ്. അദ്ദേഹം റോമായില്‍ പോയി മൂന്നാം ഹോണോറിയൂസ് മാര്‍പാപ്പയെ കണ്ട് കാര്യം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. അവിടെ നിന്ന്‍ അദ്ദേഹം സിസിലിയായില്‍ പോയി സുവിശേഷപ്രഘോഷണം നടത്തി. തന്റെ വചനവ്യാഖ്യാനത്തിന് ശേഷം പാപകരമായ സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ കഴിയുന്ന ഒരു ദുര്‍മാര്‍ഗ്ഗിയെ ആഞ്ചെലൂസ് ശാസിച്ചു. ഇതില്‍ കുപിതനായ പാപി ഫ്രയര്‍ ആഞ്ചെലൂസിനെ വധിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ ആഞ്ചെലൂസ് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ രക്തസാക്ഷിത്വ മകുടം ചൂടാന്‍ ഇടയായി.
Angelus was born in Jerusalem to Jewish parents.
From a very young age, he showed a strong inclination toward solitude. Because of this, Angelus joined a group of hermits living on Mount Carmel. It is said that the Carmelite Order was founded under the leadership of Saint Brocard, who was the prior at that time. The Patriarch of Jerusalem, Saint Albert, wrote a rule for this new community. When the new order officially formed in 1203, Angelus became one of its members.
Prior Angelus was later entrusted with the responsibility of obtaining papal approval for the new rule. He traveled to Rome, met Pope Honorius III, and presented the case for the Carmelite Order. From there, Angelus went to Sicily to preach the Gospel.
After delivering a sermon, Angelus admonished a man living in a sinful relationship. Angered by this rebuke, the man murdered Friar Angelus. Thus, Angelus became a martyr for Christ, crowned with the glory of his sacrifice.
