The term Catechism derives from the Greek word Katecheo (κατηχέω) which means to teach orally. In the early Church, Christian doctrines and precepts were instructed to the newly converted persons and it was considered a catechesis.
The commission for Catechism in the Archeparchy includes a priest as its chairman and erudite and committed religious and lay leaders as its members. Sensing the importance of the commission and the geographical distance of the parishes, a regional arrangement is provided in Malabar with a regional director and commission members.
Catechism Commission equip catechism teachers with seminar and training programme according to the need of the time and conduct courses and exams. The objective of this Micro Website is to put together catechetical news, resources, articles, and other materials that would help individuals and teachers to promote and teach Catechism.
