Camps for flood affected people are opened. Since it rains heavily and rivers were over-flooded, people have to move to safer zones. Government officers give warning to people in the affected area. As people in the riverbanks and nearby places could foresee situation unlike last year, they are ready to move to other places. Camps were already started in Madampam, Alexnagar and Rajapuram. Waynad district which had to face the severity of damages was almost isolated. St. Anne’s H.S. Vellamunda is a shelter for more than 300 people.
Camps are begun in central Kerala also. Chaithanya Pastoral Centre accommodates 393 persons from places nearby Kottayam. Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt visited relief camp at Chaithanya.
